Class 9-10 students to study 2 Indian languages, one for class 11-12

Under the New Curriculum Framework (NCF) aligned with the new National Education Policy (NEP), changes have been introduced in language learning requirements for students. Students in classes 9 and 10 are now required to study three languages, which includes two Indian native languages. On the other hand, students in classes 11 and 12 will need to study one Indian language and one other language. The NCF has been developed by the national steering committee, led by former ISRO chief K Kasturirangan, in accordance with the guidelines of the NEP.

GATE 2024: Important dates, eligibility, syllabus and more

The registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is set to commence from August 24 on the official website gate2024.iisc.ac.in. Every year, a significant number of candidates, ranging from 7 to 10 lakh, apply for this entrance test. GATE is conducted collectively by the seven first-generation Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) - IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee - along with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. This year, the responsibility for conducting GATE has been taken up by IISc Bangalore.

Board exams to be held twice a year: NCF

The Education Ministry has announced the reintroduction of the two-board exam system, where final exams will be conducted twice a year. This move is aimed at providing students with more flexibility and opportunities. Students will have the option to take the exams when they feel prepared for them.

IIT Madras invites applications for Zanzibar campus

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has opened applications for courses at its Zanzibar Campus. Students who are interested can apply through the newly launched IIT Zanzibar website - zanzibar.iitm.ac.in. The last date for applying for admission at the new campus is August 5. The selection process will consist of a screening test that covers mathematics, science, English, and analytical ability, followed by interviews with faculty.
